Prepare yourself for PUG - Parental University Grief
It is that time of year again - visiting universities. For me, this will be the last time having seen 2 sons successfully graduate. Visiting universities with a daughter is very different - more places to visit and much more detail and conversation. Then over the summer the all important Personal Statement, the waiting for exam results and then next year PUG -Parental University Grief - I have invented a name for a real-life disorder - PUG. Not many of us talk about it, but it is real and affects almost all parents and takes most quite by surprise. It is what happens when your child leaves home for the first time and goes to university. Often this new season produces a real sense of loss, sadness and grief for the parent left at home. So don't be surprised, you are not alone and make the most of these last months together...
