Michael Gove is a very likable man. I have met him several times and I always enjoy time with him. He is thoughtful, intelligent, erudite and listens well. He is also a good politician. For the many who have asked how my meeting last week with him went - let me give you some highlights: we fundamentally disagreed over the nature and essence of marriage - for me, marriage is a life-long commitment between one man and one woman. Michael disagrees - he feels it can be between 2 homosexual people; I asked him about the Daily Telegraph article 25\1\13 in which he is quoted as saying that he can not guarantee immunity from prosecution for teachers who refuse to teach homosexual marriage in the classroom - he said that he or a member of his team had been misquoted but that he would hope there would be legal protection for professionals; I asked him about the well-publicised opposition to the proposed changes within the Conservative Party (see The Times 30\1\13) - he acknowledged that there was considerable opposition to the proposed changes from senior Tories (Liam Fox, IDS etc.) but also said that he and the David Cameron were committed to pushing ahead with same-sex marriage this political term.
On Tuesday the voting took place, the Conservative party was split but the motion carried. Now to the House of Lords.

I've been reading your posts and I find them very good, congrats!
I'm from PerĂº, as a child I used to go to a church involved with compassion program, have you ever sponsored children there? Maybe I'm mistake, but I just remember the name of my sponsor and I think it was you, and if I'm right, I just want to give a very big thank you for everything you've done for me, I'll never forget it, I hope you are the person I think you are. :)
