Great time at The Big Church Day Out in Sussex
I am not one for music festivals generally - especially when the weather is dodgy but I have to say I really enjoyed The Big Church Day Out - a Christian music festival in Sussex. Until this weekend I was feeling ambivalent towards the UK Christian music scene. How good therefore to have my eyes and ears opened. We went as a family for the day on Saturday along with several car loads from The Beacon. I was pleased to listen to various styles of music (Phatfish, Waitoto Children's Choir, Israel Houghton etc) and was immediately captivated by Newworldson, a band from Canada with a refreshing mix of rock and African rhythms. http://www.newworldson.com/newworldson/home.cfmThe lead singer was definitely vocalist of the day. In fact various Neworldson tracks are already on the family i-pods. My 18 year old son declared at the end of the day: "I want to bring the whole church youth next year" - recommendation indeed.
