I am a P.U.G sufferer

I suffer from P.U.G. It is a common malaise afflicting thousands of men and women of a certain age and disposition every year. The symptoms are common: feelings of sadness or loss, occasional loss of concentration, unexplained heaviness of heart, wanting just to be quiet for a while. The symptoms mostly occur in late September to early October each year. There is no cure for P.U.G. My sister suffers from P.U.G. I have noticed that many of my friends suffer from P.U.G. too. I have been suffering from P.U.G for 4 years now and will be probably be a P.U.G sufferer for several years to come. P.U.G is unique to parents.

In truth I have made up P.U.G. Not the symptoms but the name of the malaise: P.U.G. Parental University Grief. That feeling when your son\daughter goes off to uni for the start of the new academic year.
No one told me about it. I was unprepared for it. The wave of grief, the sadness mixed with pride, the quiet drive home, the empty bedroom. I thought it would get better but here I am 4th year running still suffering from P.U.G.! I said goodbye to my son this morning. Sigh!
I am wondering about a new Facebook Group P.U.G Friends; maybe P.U.G. Anonymous or a P.U.G Support Group?
Seeing them go, saying goodbye, those fellings of genuine grief and loss are real. But this is what 20 years of parenting is for - to send them into the real world equipped to make their own godly decisions and to carve out their own destiny.
On their behalf P.U.G. Please Undertake God.
