Remember to Forget Part 2

In learning to forget past hurts and disappointments which we can all carry I found myself pondering a powerful verse in Isaiah:
"You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood".
Is. 54:4
For those who heard me preach on Sunday about this what I find fascinating is not just what the verse says but what it does not say. It does not say:
"You will forget your youth and remember no more your widowhood"
In other words we will still remember the fact or the act i.e. being a youth or being a widow, but we need not remember the shame or reproach. We can, with God's help, remember to forget the destructive bitterness or corrosive unforgiveness.
Through the cross of Jesus and the power of His grace-given, loved-filled forgiveness we can be free from the power of the pain. Whilst we may remember the fact or act the remembrance of the power of the pain and emotion can subside.

Are you struggling with a past hurt that you keep thinking about?
Do you feel bound by pain?
Come to Jesus and ask Him for help to forgive.
You may need a friend to talk things through with and to pray with you?
