It must be my age

I have got to that stage of my life. That stage of life when my body seems to be protesting more: I am conscious that I can't read anything without my glasses, my limbs ache in the morning, my muscle tone around my midrift is not what it was, I am not as strong, there is more grey hair, I can't run as fast or as much and my recovery time between physical activities is longer. Phew.
Having said that, I am still determined to "beat my body" and make it my "slave" as the apostle Paul says. I am determined to try and keep playing sport, keep eating properly, getting enough rest and looking after the "temple of the Holy Spirit".
I need to look after myself for my family and for the church.
I am actually amazed at the human body and frequently lie in bed thanking God for its various (ageing) parts, the wonderful things they do and the marvellous ways my body works. Muscles. Heart-beat. Blood flow. Cell regeneration. Hair growth. Bone structure. Movement. Breath - What a creation. What a Creator! I am so thankful -despite the aches.
