Leadership Lessons from Jesus #1
Jesus was such a good leader. The gospel accounts of the life of Christ provide us with so much leadership advice whatever our leadership sphere: at home, at work, in the church, on the sports team.
In Luke's account of Jesus sending out first the 12 then the 72 we see Jesus:
1.Gathering a team to Himself.
Jesus modelled relational leadership. Get the team together. Get to know them and help them get to know each other.
2. We see Jesus giving away power and authority. Jesus didn't hold power to Himself. He gave it away to others.
3. Jesus gave them a clear job description. Do this. Don't do that.
4. He sent them. "Go!" He said. It was time to release them.
5. Finally, we see Jesus calling them back together to see how they got on and to bring some correction. There was release and delegation but also accountability.
What great lessons for us today!
