A Masterclass in Sporting Commentary by John Motson

John Motson the veteran BBC football commentator on MOTD described a Chelsea goal this weekend as "a thing of beauty". I would contend that his football commentary was the same - a thing of beauty. Motson's detailed football knowledge is legendary, so too is his vocabulary and phraseology. In describing the same Eden Hazard goal Motson said: "The goalkeeper is left stranded, Everton left bemused, Chelsea left celebrating".
