Abortion debate errupts in the UK

You have probably seen the news - the Royal College of Midwives recommending the decriminalisation of abortion. Currently there is a 24 week limit on abortions in England and Wales. This would be scrapped. Professor Cathy Warwick CEO of RCM has been on our screens this week advocating the change to the law. Curiously, she is also Chair of the main abortion provider BPAS. The RCM members have not been consulted regarding the proposed changes. There were 191,000 abortions carried out in England and Wales in 2015. 523 a day. I have heard a number of voices this week calling for the woman's right to choose; I am wondering about the babies rights...? For more on the debate: http://bit.ly/22fdS8w

It's a pity that we are looking for technological ways (and legal justifications) to support an ever decreasing responsibility over very crucial issues such as relationships and conception.

And besides, the 24-week line seems so arbitrary. What really happens on 23:59 of day 167 that changes the baby from a discard-able item to living person? Nothing.
The baby is only a few grams different between day 167 and day 168 (the 24-week threshold).
We are drawing lines over living people here.
