Mark's review of "The C-Word" BBC 1 Sunday

Beverley and I decided to watch The C-word together after hearing the favourable reviews. We were not disappointed. It was very good. The story follows a young woman's diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Sheridan Smith plays the real-life character and her real life friend Lisa Lynch who wrote the book and blogged about her struggle. It is funny, heart-warming, educational and emotional. Lisa's husband (Paul Nichols) is a brilliant and supportive husband and the effect upon Lisa's family of the diagnosis is raw and powerful. With no faith and no real hope the story is ultimately tragic but still a worthwhile night in. I learnt a lot and Beverley and I talked a lot afterwards. Still available on BBC i-player: take a deep breath, be in the right frame of mind ...
