The day the Mayor of Surrey Heath came to church

On Sunday we had a very special visitor - Cllr Beverley Harding the Mayor of Surrey Heath came to The Beacon. The reason she came on 29th September was that we were profiling our Community Mission - many of the ways we, as a church, are engaged in the local community. The Mayor was able to hear about, see and meet many of the hard working volunteers who are sacrificially giving of themselves to make a difference in the borough. Street Angels, Amari - Pregnancy Choices, Smarties and Sunbeams (parent and toddler groups), Golden Years, Besom, Beacon FC and others were represented. The mayor seemed very impressed and certainly tweeted enthusiastically afterwards. She also promised to visit some of the projects personally. Folks loved her - "the loveliest, smiliest mayor ever"!
