Good Family Habits 6 - Money
Talking about money is important. Talking about money at home with your partner and with your children is very important - teach children about savings, interest rates, loans, bank accounts, giving, mortgages, insurance, credit cards, shopping, waiting until you can afford something, planning for Christmas (yikes!) etc. All things money related. At this time of year when some of us are thinking about holidays include them in exchanging sterling for euros and explain the process (if they are old enough!). I have been explaining to my daughter about my bank statement - what comes in and what goes out. She is amazed of course at the amount both national government and local government take out, but is interested in the services they provide. She now wants to learn more about investing in the stock market - where I begin to feel out of my depth. Counting out the pocket money was easier.
