The real Amsterdam on Monday

Yesterday Phoebe and I visited our first university together - Amsterdam. For us, living close to both Gatwick and Heathrow airports Amsterdam is a 50 minute flight. It is certainly easier to get to than York University. Amsterdam is a colourful, vibrant, multicultural city - smaller than you might think: the lectures are in English and the Dutch speak English better than many English people. The real attraction however is the Tuition Fees - in the UK it is now 9,000 pounds per year whereas in the rest of the EU it is 1,800 Euros. The only problem we encountered was a tight security shut down in some of the city centre due to the visit of a controversial politician - president Putin of Russia. A fun day out together.
