I think I am still recovering - Beverley and I went to see Les Miserables the movie. Last year we went to the musical in London. It was very powerful. So is the film. Danny Leigh on Film 2013 said after seeing the film that he felt like he had "been hit by an emotional tank". The film is full on and whilst Russel Crowe looks more comfortable brooding on a horse than singing an aria the total effect - bringing the stage musical to the big screen - works. "On My Own" is fantastic, the death scenes of both Cosette's mother (Anne Hathaway) and Jean Val Jean are very moving, but the power of the story comes from the outrageous act of grace that changes the hero of the story. But the imagery of grace just keeps on coming and keeps on reminding us what Christ has done for us and how we should therefore live. We, like Jean Val Jean, are saved by an outrageous act of grace.
See it and be moved.
