The Hebridean Revival

I have been reading about the Hebridean Revival recently. It took place in 1949. A Revival is when the people of God are revived and come alive to Him in a fresh way and when lots of people turn to God. There have been lots of Revivals through out history. Some are happening now in places like South Korea and Columbia when churches of tens of thousands are common - some meeting in football stadiums. I have had the privilege of visiting both countries to observe what God is doing. It truely is amazing.
One of the hallmarks of Revival is prayer. In both South Korea and Columbia the earnest prayer of the people of God is immensely challenging. One of the hall marks of the Hebridean Revival was prayer too - largely started by and attributed to Peggy and Christine Smith - 2 sisters, 82 and 84 years old. Both were infirm and both knew how to pray.
As Revival fire spread throughout the Hebredean Islands 100s would gather together, often spontaneously, to pray and get right with God - in churches, barns, schools, fields, homes - by day and night. What might God do in our locality if we followed Peggy and Christine's example?

Great post as always Mark. The prophecy on Sunday about miracles coupled with the prayer meeting the other Friday, has only strengthened my resolve that this WILL come to Camberley this year. 2012 is God's year! With God, anything is possible, and we just have to pray that this will come to be!

God Bless
