As the second of our 24 Hours Of Prayer comes to an end it will take me some time to assimilate all that happened and to reflect on some of the things God has said to us. Firstly, I am deeply grateful for those who worked hard, served, set-up, lead sessions, prayed or prayed through the night and sought God on behalf of The Beacon family.
For me there were several highlights: the Youth band making their debut on Saturday night, Julie leading us in a time of late night psalm reading; Dave & Janet helping us reflect upon the state of our nation...
One of the touching and dramatic highlights was hearing Lucy (age 11) bring a powerful prophetic word on Saturday night. Whilst praying for the youth Lucy took the mic and spoke about God's purposes like a large bonfire and God adding sticks and torches to that fire. Little did Lucy know that this was prophesied over us when we were a small company of 25 in 1996 just starting, then again in 2006 when a visiting speaker - Stephen Oliver - prophesied the same pictorial image.
I think the main pleasure of 24 was having unhurried time to be in God's presence - to worship Him, think, pray and reflect. It was like being on retreat - with friends.
One of the scriptures that spoke to me at 24 during a session on Forgiveness was:
"Overlook and offence and bond a friendship;
fasten on to a slight and - goodbye friend" Psalm 17:9 The Message.
