Day 1 of a new course I am on in London - Church Leaders Coaching in Catford (www.kingscentre.org.uk). It has been worth the enrollment fee already. The first session was on what Mark Driscoll calls the single most significant factor in church growth - how we welcome, track and pastor visitors. Very challenging stuff. How's this for stat:
"follow up within 24 hours and your guest is 86% more likely to return to church. Leave it until the end of the week and the percentage drops to 25%".
Whilst we have work to do in this area in Camberley I am grateful for the Welcome Team who do such a great job and who organised the Newcomers Lunch on Sunday attended by 29 new folk to the church.
Let's all take responsibility to look out for, welcome and follow up new people and visitors.
