Book Review of Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund

Mike Pilavachi and Sam Alberry said this was the best book they had ever read so I thought I had better read it. I was not disappointed. It is very good. I feel I read a lot of books that tell me what to do as a leader. This book is different it tells me about Jesus, more specifically what Jesus said about himself: "I am gentle and lowly". Ortlund is a very clever guy, an academic, a Phd. But he connects with the reader powerfully: "God's love for you is not decaffinated". "Repent and let Him love you". Reading this book is like being smacked in the face with God's love. There is also deep, life changing thought demanded. The best book I have ever read? I don't know, but it is certainly up there.
