Book Review: Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

If you like gaming, you will probably like this novel. It is full of games, anecdotes to games, lists of games and the main characters play computer games a lot. And a little about Shakespeare - hence the title from Macbeth. But this is a novel also about work, race, relationships, money, sex and America. There is a fascinating description of the difference between east and west coast. Sam and Sadie are childhood friends, good friends, special friends. They grow up to be come successful game developers. They fall out - more than once. In fact, aside from gaming, this is the charm of the novel - relationships and how they change over time. And what is love? Can a man and woman be just friends? Must it always become sexual? How should conflict be resolved? And what if you are in an abusive relationship or know someone who is? There is more than one surprise in the novel, more than one shocking and violent death. And what do we do when we lose someone, how do we deal with loss? Oh, and did I mention gaming...?
