Lessons in Leadership #5 Not always Popular

For anyone in Leadership you will know that sometimes what you say and do is not popular with everyone. Leadership requires decisions and those decisions may not please everyone. Decisions need to made about staff, finances, budgets, direction, venues and a whole host of other challenges. Not everyone will agree about your decision about a person or what to finance, or change but decisions still need to be made otherwise there is no Leadership and atrophy sets in. Take the Team with you, as much as you can. Give others time to catch up with your thought process (you have probably been thinking about this a long time). Communicate the decision with your Team as much as you can so they are not taken by surprise. Even then there may be naysayers, or others in the organistion who may not like your decision (or your leadership). Make the decision anyway. And learn from it. Lessons from Jesus: He was not popular with the religious leaders of the time even though He went around doing good.
