CAP stands for Christians Against Poverty. They are a Bradford based charity that helps lift thousands of people out of poverty and debt in the UK. Martin Lewis, www.moneysavingexpet.com, is a great fan. I am working hard with Will Hunter-Smart, the Rector of St Nics, to establish a CAP Debt Centre to serve Newbury and the surrounding area. A Steering Group has been formed from different churches to pave the way.
The genius of CAP is that they act as advocate for the client. They speak to the debtors. They take the heat. They negotiate. Local befrienders support the individual or family.
I am hoping we can interview for the post of Newbury Debt Centre Manager in April this year. Exciting...
