O good brain stretcher this conference - Starting Churches and Re-Starting Churches. Firstly, little or no mention of "Church Planting", a little on multisite, much about joining with failing denominational churches, working together to re-invigorate a community. 3 guys spoke about their experience of re-starting churches in Chicago. I was impressed with the teams humility and spirit - not over-bearing or arrogant but genuinely wanting to serve, refresh, re-envision whilst honouring the past history of a struggling church. Much wisdom, grace and faith was display: wisdom financially, wisdom with (old) buildings, refurbishment, leadership, community engagement, favour with local authorities, dealing with ethnically diverse neighbourhoods and ethnically diverse churches.
