Beacon FC Cup Finals report.
Remarkable and historic - two words to sum up the SACFL (Southern Area Christian Football League) Cup Finals day. Remarkable and historic because both Beacon Church football teams made it to their respective cup finals both played at Ashford Town football ground. The B team kicked off first against CS Utd B. 1-1 was the score after 90 minutes after a sure strike from Richard Barker put Beacon ahead. Extra time it was and after a tense goal mouth scramble Josh Gomersall fired high into the net to win the match for Beacon B. Jubilant scenes amongst the 150 Beacon supporters.Similarly, Beacon A, also playing CS Utd A found themselves at 1-1 after 90 minutes (The Beacon goal scored by Luke Smith after just 20 seconds!). After extra time, still 1-1, so penalties it was. Sadly, Beacon lost on penalties. So close, but still remarkable and histortic. Even the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Beverley Harding, came to support both Beacon teams
