If you haven't had a chance to watch The Nativity on BBC1 this week then I can recommend that you watch it. 7.00-7.30pm. It is very good. If you haven't seen it then watch it on i-player.
We are enjoying the mini series as a family watching the episode then turning off the telly to talk about what we have just seen and what we think about it. The conversation has been as worthwhile as watching the programme together. This isn't a cheesy, religious nativity. This one gets underneath and behind some of the characters - the vulnerability, isolation and danger of Mary when no-one believes her. The confusion and disappointment of Joseph in discovering his fiance is pregnant. The poverty of the shepherds. The wonder and single-mindedness of the magi in following the star. All this with good costume, humour and photography from where it all took place ..er...Morrocco! It is worth it.
