Coping with Criticism Part 2

In thinking about how we deal with criticism here are the contents of some of my slides from Sunday morning.I hope they are helpful.

Criticism - what to do:
Who is it from? “Wounds from a friend can be trusted”
Is it justified?
What is the grain of truth?
What can I learn?
What is their situation?
Take it to God.

Criticism - How To:
Choose your time and place.
Say it face to face.
Jesus said in Mat 18:15 “You go…”
Gently.
To win them.
Use “I” phrases not “you” accusations.
Pray for them.

Criticism - What Not To Do:
Don’t react.
Don’t be defensive.
Don’t gossip.
Don’t put it on Facebook!
Don’t shut them out.
Don’t shut God out.

Much grace to you as you seek to deal with criticism in a godly manner.

Have you come across Poirer's The Cross and Criticism? Really helpful article on the same stuff you're talking about.
