Good to Grow

Sometimes I am asked to review a book. Sometimes I am asked to write a review of a book. This week I have had the privelege of reading the manuscript of a book not yet published: Good to Grow by Steve Tibbert. I think the publishers are hoping to have it ready by Christmas.
Steve leads Kings Church in Catford London - a large multi-cultural church. The book is his story and the leadership lessons he has learnt along the way as he has taken the church from 150 to over 1,000 in attendance. I enjoyed reading about the many leadership challenges and how he and his team have overcome - money, buildings, increased staff, illness, tradgey and sudden death of loved ones. The stuff of church life.
I was also very challenged by some of the statistics in the book:
"If your church grows by 10% each year it will double in size in 7 years". Seems atainable doesn't it?
There are also great chapters on marriage and rest - you tend not to get many leadership books that major on those themes. Plus the challenge of diversity and building multi-cultural churches.
So watch out for Steve's book but more than that play your part in helping your local church be Good to Grow.
