What is love ...?

2 weddings and a lot of love.
Today is another first in the life of The Beacon Church as we have 2 weddings. Luke and Danielle plus Abagail and Dave have chosen 29th August as their wedding day. One wedding is at 2.00pm and the other at 4.00pm.
In thinking about both couples and their obvious love for each other I am struck again by God's amazing love and how much The Bible has to say about love:
"The greatest commandment (said Jesus) is to love God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your strength. The second is to love your neighbour as yourself."
"let us love one another for love comes from God."
"God is love."
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as a sacrifice for our sins." (1 John 4)
We also have arguably the best description ever of love written in a letter in The Bible (St. Paul to the church in Corinth) in which he says:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs...".
Fantastic stuff and how different would our relationships, marriages, families, society be if we lived by this kind of love?
