Mark's Review of The Meg

I admit it - I went to see The Meg, the latest action movie starring Jason Statham. Several people have asked me what I thought. The Meg is the megaladon, a giant shark which is awakened from the deep. Queue lots of chomping, a cute little girl and a hero who takes it on. There are plenty of edge of your seat shocks, nods to other shark movies (including Finding Nemo!) and some laugh out loud moments. I enjoyed it. There is some mandarin dialogue with sub titles - the film will do well in China. Mostly, the shark CGI is good, except for the shots when the Meg looks like a harmless whale shark. I am not sure if I would pay £14 each to go and see it, but £4 on a Monday, yes.
